About Me & My Approach
Hi, I’m Justine!
I’m Justine Wright, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). I see clients in person at my office in Oakdale, CA, and online for anyone living throughout California or Oregon.
I specialize in helping adults navigate change with honest and compassionate guidance.
My approach is simple
What you’re going through deserves a plan made just for you. There’s no one-size-fits-all here.
I’m a person-centered and solution-focused therapist. Here’s what that means for you.
Person-centered
I show up as a person, not a textbook. We talk human to human, and I meet you where you are.
Solution-focused
I believe you already have the answers you’re looking for. Sometimes you’re just standing too close to the problem to see them.
Think of me like a painter
I’m like an artist who mixes their paint to get a unique color that’s perfect for the scene in front of them.
I draw from different tools, like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, solution-focused therapy, and positive psychology to fit what you need. You won’t have to squeeze yourself into an approach that wasn’t made for you.
The therapeutic experience you get is blended to meet you where you’re at and help you get where you want to go.
There’s always something new in the mental health field, so I am always learning and adding to my color palette. I explore new research and regularly attend training to keep building my skills to give you the best support possible.
What to expect working with me
Our work together starts with a question.
What’s at the forefront of your mind?
What’s that one thing you can’t seem to get past?
From there, we build a strong therapeutic relationship. We need to feel comfortable together before real healing and growth can happen.
Fair warning, I use a lot of metaphors. Some clients joke that they get tired of them. But metaphors help things click in a way therapy jargon doesn’t.
Imagine your problem is a brick wall.
How big is the wall? Right now, it probably feels huge.
A client once told me theirs felt like the Great Wall of China.
When you’re standing right up against the wall, all you see is how many bricks there are. Each brick is its own challenge. And seeing them all in your face is overwhelming. It feels like there is nothing you can do to get past the wall.
In our sessions, we take a few steps back.
The farther back you go, the more you can see. You start to notice the edges of the wall. You see there’s a way around it, or even over it.
After we get deeper into working together, I’ll ask you again. How big is your wall now? Most clients tell me it’s smaller than it was. The wall is still there, but now it feels manageable.

More about me
Listening to people and connecting with others has always come naturally to me. Growing up, I loved seeing a friend’s face soften after they shared what they were going through and finally felt heard.
I grew up first-generation Hispanic with Spanish as my first language. I saw how much the people around me struggled, and how often anxiety and depression showed up in the migrant community. It showed me that even positive change can come with its own challenges. By the time I was a teenager, I knew I wanted to help people heal and thrive through honest conversation and connection.
Becoming a therapist let me go beyond listening and be able to guide people to improve the quality of their lives.
My Experience
My career started in case management and social work with youth living in the foster care system. From there, I worked at a nonprofit supporting at-risk and high-risk teens living in group homes. Then I joined a private therapy practice group where I saw clients of all ages. In 2021, I opened Just Wright Therapy.
